Caviar

 I've been experimenting more with using a brush and ink rather than drawing lately, the lines are so much more organic. I started painting these classic caviar tins as a way to practice but liked them so much I turned them into a final piece, coloring them digitally.

I really love the monochromatic look for spring especially when texture and scale are played with. This model must be really into planking or took some lessons from this guy.

Bon Appetit: March

I did a few spot illustrations for the March issue of Bon Appetit. The article is about the 20 most innovative restaurants in America. I was so excited to get to illustrate dishes from a few of my favorite restaurants like Roberta's and some restaurants I'm dying to try like Mission Chinese. There's nothing like an illustration job that involves something you genuinely love, like steak frites.

I'm so excited to be heading to Austin for South by Southwest next week that I couldn't help starting to mentally pack. I'll definitely be taking advantage of the 70+ degree weather and digging out my dresses and shorts from the depths of my closet. Boots are necessary for toe protection during shows and the leather jacket is for when I head back to freezing, sunless New York.
