Le Nook

Now that I'm working mainly from home doing freelance illustration, fabric printing and making items for Etsy I was in desperate need of a proper studio space. Until I graduate and Bono and I can get out of Manhattan, my nook will have to do.

I have a pretty organized setup here. I got the desk with that amazing lightbox and drawer system that acts as a sewing table at Ikea. I built the shelf myself with lumber and a few brackets I picked up at Home Depot, I drilled a few holes in the wood so that the pods for my paint could hang from it. I'm still hoping to stain the wood a beautiful dark color. Its created so much more desk space which helps since Bono and I share one desk. I get to house all my sewing, fabric design and sketch books and his recording equipment fits nicely too.
I feel so guilty I cut most of these out of my American Illustration book. They are just too beautiful to stay hidden away in a book. The others are just postcards I've been sent. I would really love to find some frames but for now scotch tape will do.
I've always loved silhouettes, I have a tattoo of two on my left wrist, and I found these at an antique store on 1st ave. The braided piece on the right is going to hopefully be printed as a silk scarf so keep checking my etsy!

New Item Listing: Chanel Flats

New item up on my Etst! A beautiful pair of Chanel ballet flats that have hardly been worn. If you're a size 6 head over to my shop before these get snatched up!

Etsy Find: Flat Earth Studio

Just ordered some amazing stuff from brooklyn based Flat Earth Studio. I'm always into bold, black and white imagery and honestly I'll probably be taking the book "How to Draw Animals" by Bryce Wymer apart and hanging the pages all over my apartment. Some of the pages remind me of the miu miu prints from a few seasons back. Check out more from Flat Earth Studio HERE and have a look at Bryce's blog for some amazing sketchbook work HERE

Working on a floral pattern and here's some of my inspiration/reference photos. I'm so in love with the faded black and white photos of the peonies, so I'm thinking this pattern will be done in graphite to get a similar look.

A Tried and True Map to Paradise

As all my readers should know by now, I'm a big Tavi fan. She's truly one of the most brilliant women I've ever encountered and I wish I had her depth of understanding when I was a sophomore in high school, and even now. So I was honored when I received an email last night that said one of my illustrations would be featured in her online magazine for teenage girls, Rookie. After I read the email I started imagining what I would want to hear when I was trapped in the depths of despair, otherwise known as high school. To my surprise, the article my Illustration accompanied was exactly what 15 year old me desperately needed to hear. The article, A Tried and True Map to Paradise, was written by Sarah Sophie Flicker; Creative Director of the Citizens Band, half of filmmaking team with Maximilla Lukacs, a contributor to HelloGiggles and editor at large for Lula magazine. I couldn't ask to be in better company and I can't wait to work with the Rookie team in the future.
